Praying for Prayer

I recently led a discussion on the topic of “If God is Sovereign Why Pray.”  I came out of the discussion convicted about my lack of prayerfulness and the result is this prayer asking God to work in my heart.

Increase my faith, oh Lord.
Help me to take you at your word,
So that I may live out your promises.
Give me a heart that cries out to you
With a dependent for I am weak,
But you are mighty and able to do all thing.
Without prayer I have no power.
Aid me in seeing my need
To bow before your sovereign throne
Giving you praise, honor and glory
As I seek the means of grace
In which you bless your people.

  1. I pray daily and frequently that God will help me overcome my anxiety and doubts — especially concerning my behavior vis-a-vis doing his “will” — i.e. “thy will be done”

Philippians 2:3 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves” (NIV)

For me the struggle is constant and on-going.
