Happy Valentine’s Day!

Mommy, before I was born, I loved you.  The way you carried me in your belly and kept me safe and warm made me know I had the best mommy ever.  Seeing you for the first time and the love in your eyes confirmed that God gave me the best mom.

Mommy, you are my best friend and I have been looking forward to telling you to today how much I love you.  I couldn’t imagine life without you and all the fun things you do for me.  Especially things involving food.

Thank you for all the time you spend doing my hair.  I know I am not always appreciative of it and mess up my hair but it does mean a lot to me that you spend more time on my hair then your own.

You are one hot momma!  Thanks for spending time to make me look pretty look like you.  Whenever people tell me that I am cute daddy tells them that I get it from you.  You are so pretty I used to have to wear sunglasses because the radiance of your beauty is so strong.

Mommy, I enjoy when we get to enjoy on walks.  I miss the old days when I was so close and snuggled up to you on our hearts.

I am older now, very wild and independent.  Sometimes I can be hard to catch and want my own space as I run and hide in the bathroom.  Even when I am wandering around doing my own thing…

Please know that my favorite place to be is in your arms.

Thank you for making my life so special.  I love you so much and can’t wait till I am old enough to write valentine’s day cards on my own.  You are truly worthy of honor and getting a card everyday of the year for all that you do for me and papa.  I know sometimes I spend all day hanging onto your leg, but that is only because I can’t spend all day hugging you and letting you know how blessed and happy you make me fell.

Love,

Miya

Redeeming Love

For the LORD your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God…For the LORD your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.
(Deuteronomy 4:24 & 31 ESV)

The fire of Yahweh as a jealous God is the fire of an exclusive commitment to this people that demands an exclusive commitment in return.  It is, in short, the fire of redeeming love that had brought them out of the fires of bondage and would therefore tolerate no rival…It was the fire of God’s jealousy that protected the strength of God’s mercy and covenant faithfulness to this people.  In rebellion and idolatry they would find the God of verse 24.  In return and obedience they would find the God of verse 31.  This is the same unchanged God, responding to a tragically unchangeable people.
